The Hekima Scarf is a 100% silk scarf that pays homage to the Kanga (the talking cloth) of East Africa.
The design is digitally printed on high quality silk crepe de chine fabric. The rich vibrant colours in this alternative colourway reflect nature in Spring.
Jo Kalute is the designer behind the Hekima scarf. Kenyan born-Australian illustrator, Surface and Textile Designer. Jo uses her art as a way to express the pride she has as a designer of African descent living in the diaspora and to celebrate the beauty and diversity of my culture and its people.
The design for this scraf is inspired by the Swahili proverb, "Hekima ni Mali" which translates to "Wisdom is wealth." The cowrie shell motif represents wealth and good fortune.
