In our journey as a brand, we have been incredibly lucky to be given the platform to create connections with women we have always admired. Artist Mafalda Vasconcelos is undoubtedly one of these women.
Born in South Africa and hailing from Mozambique, Mafalda explores themes of cultural identity, ritual, and tradition in her art. As designers, our African heritage is also a huge influence in our work, from the fabrics we select to the stories behind our collections. Mafalda uses her art to explore the symbolism and spiritualism of her Mozambican culture, the women she depicts representing the souls of her ancestors, the Nharinga people. Her work is a celebration of both the past and new beginnings, a depiction of the female form that is explored through the visual elements of African art.
We are excited to announce the Collective Closets x MMVCE t-shirt collaboration. This tee is a celebration of the female form, where the beauty and spiritualism of Mafalda’s work meet the craftsmanship and heritage of ours.
This ongoing collaboration will spotlight Mafalda’s art, with her artwork featured on the walls of our Melbourne store and across our social media platforms. The t-shirt is available in an inclusive range of sizes in a comfortable and breathable white cotton. Available online and in-store now #ccxmmvce
